Rampart Suite M Orange, CA 92868 Phone: (714) 939-3131 Fax: (714) 939-3132 Broadcom Corporation, a global leader in semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, is relocating its Corporate Headquarters from the Irvine Spectrum to occupy eight new buildings, totaling 700,000 square feet, at UCI’s University Research Park. This move by Broadcom constitutes not only the largest industry-university connection in Orange County’s history, but also one of the largest O. C. office leases as well. IBEW Local 441 is extremely proud to be a part of such an enormous, state-of-the-art project. The work being performed by our members working for Sasco Data includes the installation of over 2 million feet of data and security cabling, cabling for 15 R&D labs, and 1,000 strands of fiber optic cabling between the campus buildings. At its peak, the project employed 45 members.The customer, Broadcom, chose IBEW contractors for this project because they were confident we could perform under such a tight schedule. Sasco Superintendent Bret Bennett, General Foreman Mike Dulin, and the entire crew stepped up to the challenge. The job began last November and will encompass 23,000 man-hours by the time it reaches completion in April ’07. IBEW contractors, Air Conditioning Control Systems & Baker Electric, are also working on this project installing the Building Automation Systems. |
