Lot lines and setbacks continue to get tighter and jobsite more crowded, so resorting to hand work is unavoidable. Or is it? John Deere’s latest edition to the D-series line in the one-two-metric ton class is designed to get more work done in tight spaces and crowded worksites. With an expandable undercarriage, the tracks can be retracted to support a width of 38.6 inches.

The backfill blade has foldable end sections, so you can fit through barrow openings such as doorways. When fully extended to over 50 inches, the undercarriage provides excellent stability for digging. The 17D has improved fuel economy and long service intervals so it costs less to run. Durability features like the improved boom-cylinder guard keeps it up and running.
