Plasterers, Cement Masons, Bricklayers and Ceramic Tile Setters from California and Hawaii participated in the annual apprenticeship competition held in Honolulu, Hawaii in July. Occasional rain showers did nothing to dampen anyone’s spirit or ‘will to win’ as the ambiance rained adrenaline and testosterone while each competitor concentrated on his product. Skills competitions like these are good for the soul as well as for improving our standard of excellence as tradesmen. Plasterers Local 200 was represented by first-time competitor Jose Gonzales who has taken his next step to becoming a veteran mechanic. Other competitors from California were Plasterers and Cement Masons from locals #500, #300 and #66 while Hawaii was represented by local #630 (Plasterers and Cement Masons) and local #1(Bricklayers and Ceramic Tile Setters). Our thanks and congratulations go to all the apprenticeship coordinators and competitors for making this another successful year.
