Andy Calise, former Business Representative for the Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 36, former Financial Secretary of Painters and Tapers Local 95 and Field Agent for the DC 36 LMCC/Compliance Program passed away unexpectedly in August. Andy was a 34-year member of the IUPAT. He is survived by his wife Rosalie, four children and three grandchildren. Andy was a warm and outgoing man and was a proud and loyal member of Union. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.

Paint and Drywall Apprenticeship

On July 6, 30 Drywall and 60 Paint Apprentices reached Journeymen status. Congratulations to all of the new graduates for all of their hard work and dedication to their craft. Our apprenticeship program continues to produce the most-skilled and best-trained workers in the industry.

Local 1247

Floorlayers Local 1247 reached an agreement in July with FieldTurf Inc. to install their synthetic turf systems. FieldTurf is a leader in artificial grass systems used in stadiums, schools, and parks worldwide. The turf is manufactured and installed much the same way and with many of the same tools as carpet. Local 1247 has already installed fields for the Rowland Unified School District, providing work for more than 20 apprentices and journeymen.
