PACE 2008
Due to the success of the organizing efforts of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 36 in recent years, Business Manager Grant Mitchell was invited to speak at the 2008 Paint and Coatings Expo (PACE), which took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, January 27-30. Since 1996, the hours worked by new District Council 36 painting signatories has risen every year from just over 2,500 hours in 1996, topping one million hours in 2005, and continues to rise.

636 Apprenticeship Graduation
The Local Union 636 Apprentice graduation ceremony for winter 2007 took place January 29 at the District Council 36 Glaziers Training Center in Garden Grove. After enjoying a barbeque dinner, each new Journeyman was presented with a completion certificate and a Carhartt jacket by Apprenticeship Coordinator Ed Garcia on behalf of the Glaziers Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Along with friends and family, on hand to extend their congratulations were District Council 36 Business Manager Grant Mitchell, IUPAT General President James A. Williams, members of the IUPAT Executive Board, and Daniel Villao of the Los Angeles/Orange Counties Building and Construction Trades Council.
