We have been making inroads into the solar power industry which will open job opportunities for our members in this emerging market. We’ve recently signed a solar power contractor, Independence Power Inc., and sent representatives to the West Coast Solar Power Conference in San Jose to build relationships with contractors and to help us make further inroads into this market.

We have opened up our Union halls for Labor to Labor campaigning for the important November 7 election so that that Union members can talk to other Union members about what is at stake for working families: jobs, prevailing wages, pensions, healthcare and education.  We have teamed up with the Painters and Allied Trades, Pipefitters and Plumbers and Ironworkers to do job site visits about the election. So far we have made contact with over 12,000 Building Trades members at major jobsites is Los Angeles County. We will visiting every major jobsite by the election. Help us get the word out by talking to your fellow members on the jobsite about the importance of electing a pro-labor team to represent us in Sacramento, Washington and in our local city and county governments.
